I just installed Ubuntu 11.04 and was quite discouraged at first over the lack of support for the Poulsbo video card that prevented the correct resolution from working as well as the unity gui. I found these links that at least allowed me to get things up and running on my Dell Mini 1010. Performance not the best.

@ na

I am discouraged by you leaving a commnet on a blog for the the Mini 9, 10v and Vostro a90 about your Dell Mini 10.

The Mini 10 is not a good linux PC, sorry.

I installed it on my dell mini 9. It was horrendous. It was slower than windows 7 and locked up constantly. Eventually I downgraded to the LTS. Horrible layout, horrible run. Not a good OS updated at all.

I dont think Ubuntu is concerned with 3 year old netbook users.

Try Xubuntu

I am surprised at redDEAD's comment "I dont think Ubuntu is concerned with 3 year old netbook users." In my experience, Ubuntu has been a really great distro for giving life to old machines, and hardware drivers for new machines are not always available. I was quite discouraged by the assertion that Ubuntu doesn't want to deal with our 3-year-old netbooks.

Ubuntu doesn't want to deal with our 3-year-old netbooks it's being resource intensive and flashy.

Ubuntu has become the Apple OS of the Linux world. Focused on usablity and pretty but at the expense of older machines. The Dell Mini 9 chokes on the new Ubuntu 11.10
